Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
