From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
